The Sport of Cricket had its first international "test" match in 1887. In this test match England and Australia competed in a series that is now played every 2 years known as "The Ashes". On the left there are 2 pictures. One of the england team winnign the trophy in 2005. The other Picture (which can be viewed by putting your curser on the picture) is of The famous little trophy that reputedly contains a burnt item of cricket equipment, possibly a bail. The ashes trophy was presented to the England team by a group of melbourne women. There are other forms of international cricket, the One day Internations (ODI's) and Twenty20 matches. Both of these types hold World cups unlike test cricket. Test Matches are held over 5 days were as one day international matches are 1day games with each team getting 50 overs each. In Twenty20 cricket each team gets 20 overs (120 balls) This leads to fast paced games. This was expected to lead to the death of test cricket, but it has actually enhanced its popularity. The current one day international world champions are Australia and Twenty20 Champions are India.
